Exhibition “Krystynopol in the 17th–19th Centuries”

The exhibition “Krystynopol in the 17th–19th Centuries” is a journey through the history of Sheptytskyi (formerly Krystynopol), from the time of its foundation to the end of the 19th century.

The permanent exhibition is located within the walls of the Potocki Palace — an 18th-century architectural landmark that now houses the Chervonohrad branch of the Lviv Museum of the History of Religion.

The exhibition tells the story of the founding of Krystynopol by the Potocki family and its development as an important cultural, trading, and craft center of Galicia. Visitors can learn about the city's architecture, religious life, traditions, and everyday life of its inhabitants during the 17th–19th centuries.

The museum collection features historic documents, maps, photographs, archaeological discoveries, household items, portraits of members of the Potocki family, and other materials that recreate the atmosphere of past eras.

A special feature of the exhibition is its location in the historic Potocki residence, where the architecture itself becomes part of the museum narrative. Visiting the exhibition helps visitors better understand the past of modern-day Sheptytskyi, explore how the city changed during the periods of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and discover lesser-known pages of its multicultural history.
