Oril

Oril is a quiet, winding river that flows like a silver ribbon through the Ukrainian fields, meadows, and forests.

Its waters reflect the sky and the passage of time, carrying with them the ancient history of a land where generations of farmers have lived and cherished the soil.

This river is a right tributary of the Dnipro, with a total length of 346 km. It originates near the village of Yefremivka in Kharkiv region. The Oril flows through the Lozivskyi and Berestynskyi districts of Kharkiv Oblast, the Poltava district of Poltava Oblast, and the Pavlohradskyi, Samarskyi, and Dnipro districts of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.

The name of the river is deeply rooted in history — it is phonetically related to the ancient ethnonym "orii", derived from the word "to plow" — referring to farmers. This highlights the Oril’s strong connection to the ancient agrarian culture of the Ukrainian lands.
