The park is a favourite place for residents and visitors, combining history, nature, and architecture in a unique atmosphere.
The park was founded at the beginning of the 20th century by Baron Ivan Maksymilian de Choduar, after whom it was named. Originally, a three-storey palace of the baron stood on this territory, surrounded by a unique arboretum with around 80 species of trees and plants brought from different parts of the world. Although the palace has not survived, the park still preserves the charm and atmosphere of the former aristocratic estate.
Among the park’s highlights are picturesque alleys, an old staircase leading to the Teteriv River with 184 steps created by stonemason Václav Dlouhý, decorative sculptures including a statue of the goddess Artemis, and the cosy Shoduarskyi Gazebo, which became the venue for the annual poetry and prose festival.
A special feature of the park is the 350-metre suspension bridge over the Teteriv River, offering beautiful views of the water and surrounding landscapes. In 2020, renovation works began on the park’s riverside area and boat station, making the location even more comfortable for walks and recreation.
Today, Shoduarskyi Park is a green oasis of Zhytomyr where visitors can enjoy nature, walk along historic alleys, admire views of the Teteriv River, and experience the unique atmosphere of one of the city’s most beautiful places.
