Built in the 17th century, the tower protected the Zhovkva Gate, one of the main entrances to the town. For centuries, it served a defensive purpose and today stands as a valuable monument of military architecture.
The museum exhibition introduces visitors to the centuries-old history of Belz, one of the oldest towns in Ukraine. It features archaeological discoveries, historical documents, household artifacts, photographs, and other materials illustrating the town’s development from the princely era to the present day. Special attention is given to Belz’s multicultural heritage, where Ukrainian, Polish, and Jewish communities lived side by side for centuries.
The Zhovkva Tower Museum is not only a museum but also a symbol of the town’s historical heritage. It offers visitors an opportunity to experience the atmosphere of historic Belz, learn about its defensive structures, and discover the important role the town played in the history of the border region.
