Its collection includes more than 25,000 exhibits showcasing the nature, history, archaeology, ethnography, and cultural heritage of the Korosten area.
The permanent exhibition is displayed in eight galleries and presents the region's history from ancient times to the present day. One of the museum's highlights is its archaeological collection dedicated to the Drevlians, one of the best-known East Slavic tribes. Visitors can see unique archaeological discoveries, jewelry, weapons, household items, and handcrafted objects dating from the 10th to the 19th centuries. A significant part of the exhibition is devoted to the nature of the Polissia region, the geology of the Korosten area, its flora and fauna, as well as the traditional culture and everyday life of local residents.
The museum traces its origins to 1924, when the first district museum of local history was established. After its collection was lost during World War II, the museum was revived through the efforts of local historians and researchers. The current permanent exhibition opened in 1987 in the former hospital building of the Korosten Fortified Area. Today, the museum works closely with archaeologists, continuously expands its collections with new discoveries, and serves as an important scientific and cultural center for the region.
