For centuries, it served as one of the most important Catholic spiritual centers of Podillia, playing a significant role in the religious and cultural life of the region.
The church stands on a hill reinforced by a stone retaining wall. Architecturally, it is a single-nave, cross-domed structure with pentagonal chancel and transept sections. The building was distinguished by its steep wooden shingle roof topped with a dome, tall pointed-arch windows, and characteristic Baroque architectural features.
The history of the sanctuary dates back to the 16th century, when a stone chapel was built on the site of an earlier wooden church. The present church was constructed in 1600 by Adam Hieronim Sieniawski. It housed ten altars, including a magnificent main altar featuring a painting by the renowned court artist Marcello Bacciarelli. A parish school and a charitable institution for the poor also operated at the church.
In 1962, the Holy Trinity Church was destroyed by the Soviet authorities during the campaign against religious buildings. Today, only its ruins remain, serving as a reminder of Medzhybizh's centuries-old history and rich architectural heritage.
