On November 28, 1920 the first museum exposition was opened for visitors.
The founders of the Romny Museum of Local History are the famous sculptor and film director Kavaleridze, art historian, archaeologist, professor Makarenko, local historian and first museum director Semenchyk.
Since 2007, the Romny Museum of Local History has become part of the State Historical and Cultural Reserve "Posulye".
Now the museum in Romny is a significant scientific and educational center of the city and region, on the basis of which many cultural events take place.
