Its structure includes: the Rome Museum of Local Lore, the Nedrygail Museum of Local Lore (branches), Yushchenko O. Manor Museum, the Pyotr Kalnyshevsky Museum (department of the reserve) with the architectural and ethnographic complex "Stare Selo" (museum sector); scientific research department of accounting and conservation of reserve funds; department of cultural heritage protection and field research of archaeological monuments of the reserve; sector of scientific and educational work; scientific library. The main task of the reserve is the protection and preservation of objects of cultural heritage, protected territories connected with them, movable monuments, works of monumental, fine, decorative and applied art, as well as conducting scientific research, scientific methodical, informational and cultural educational work with the aim of popularizing cultural heritage, spiritual enrichment of citizens.
The Petro Kalnyshevsky Museum was opened on October 14, 2006 by the President of Ukraine V. Yushchenko during the All-Ukrainian Cossack holiday "Kalnyshev Council" in the village of Pustovytivka, Romen district (here was born the chieftain of Zaporizhzhya Sich). The museum presents materials about the life path of the state builder, commander, diplomat, philanthropist, bright representative of Ukrainian chivalry Pyotr Kalnyshevskyi. A rare masterpiece of Ukrainian goldsmithing of the 18th century. the enthroned Gospel of Pyotr Kalnyshevsky, which he presented to the Trinity Church of Pustovytivka. On the territory of the historical and cultural complex, the Church of the Holy Trinity, built in 1775 at his expense and reconstructed in 2006, and the monument to Koshov. The archaeological collections include Neolithic flint implements, Scythian and Slavic antiquities, ceramics of the Chernyakhiv culture, and weapons from the times of Kyivan Rus. The architectural and ethnographic complex "Stare Selo" functions in the structure of the museum. Samples of folk architecture introduce the life and everyday life of a Ukrainian village in the 19th and 20th centuries. There is an authentic windmill of the 19th century. the so-called pillar-type, carriage, well-crane with a bucket for watering horses.
The reserve takes care of objects of historical and cultural heritage and nature reserve fund of local and national significance. Among them are archaeological necropolises and settlements of the Scythian era, chronicled cities of the Kyivan Rus era (Vyahan, Popash, Roman, see Romny), the Northern settlement of Monastyryshche, which gave its name to Roman culture, a mammoth monument on the site of a Paleolithic site in the village of Kulishivka, a geological landmark of the town of Zolotukh, which is connected with the discovery of the first oil in Livoberezhnaya Ukraine. Of particular interest is the group of Posul mounds, the first among which belongs to the Scythian necropolis near the village. Pustovytivka The territory of the reserve is divided into: reserve (territory of individual monuments, complexes) for storage and protection of the most valuable historical and cultural complexes and individual monuments; exposition room for placing museum expositions, exhibitions, museumized objects; scientific for carrying out research work; recreational for compact rest and serving visitors and tourists; economic for the placement of auxiliary economic objects. The museum collection (museum fund) has the main and research and auxiliary funds. The objects of the main fund belong to the state part of the Museum Fund of Ukraine and the National Archive Fund of Ukraine, are state property, cannot be pledged, are not subject to privatization and alienation. The most valuable and unique museum objects are entered into the State Register of National Cultural Property. The museum fund of the reserve includes about 40,000 exhibits that introduce the historical past and present, nature, ethnography, and artistic heritage of the Posul region. Traditionally, the museums of the reserve hold exhibitions in honor of famous compatriots; memory evenings, portrait evenings, themed evenings, interactive tours, museum lessons, video presentations, conferences, etc., in particular, scientific and practical conferences were held: "Vol. G. Shevchenko and Romenshchyna" (on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the construction of the monument to Kobzar, 2008), "Kalnyshev region on the terrain of Ukrainian history" (2010), "The figure of P. I. Kalnyshevskyi on the historical parallels of the Cossack period" (2016), international plein air Kalnysheva council-2013", round table: "Selyschu Nedrigailiv 60" (2018). Scientists of the reserve compiled a collection "...And I will live, and I will free my mind from the home of the vozzva!" (S., 2014), dedicated to the Shevchenko heritage of the Romanshchyna. The first director was V. Panchenko (2007-21), from 2023 T. Kryvoguz.
