The bronze statue of the baptizer of Kyivan Rus in the festive mantle, with a cross in his right hand and prince’s crown in his left, rests on the 16m-high pedestal with cast-iron facing. The pedestal is decorated with a bas-relief depicting the scenes of baptism of Kyivites, the regalia of the Order of St. Volodymyr (stars and crosses), and the coat of arms of Kyiv – the image of Archangel Michael. The square stylobate made of cast-iron plates looks like an eight-sided chapel in pseudo-Byzantine style. The monument was restored in 1953-1954. It is 20.5m high, and the statue is 4.5m high.
