Peresopnytsia Cultural and Archaeological Centre

Have you ever seen the books which are considered to be masterpieces? One of these was created in Rivne Oblast. It was handwritten 4 centuries ago.

This valuable manuscript was known for its unprecedented beauty and extraordinary price (it cost as a whole town). This is the well-known Peresopnytsia Gospel, the first translation of the word of God to the vernacular of that time. Nowadays the elected presidents of Ukraine take their oath of office on this Ukrainian national symbol. A short break or a visit to the Peresopnytsia Cultural and Archaeological Centre will leave you marvelling at the exciting surprises of the Peresopnytsia Gospel which never fails to intrigue and inspire the visitors.

Cultural and Archeological centre “Peresopnytsia” includes:

1. Archeological museum.

2. Peresopnytsia Gospel Museum.

3. Open-air museum ""Princely Town"".

Peresopnytsia Gospel is called the book-phenomenon. It is not only the first translation of scripture into the national language and hand-written masterpiece, but also a symbol of statehood. As it is this book the Ukrainian Presidents hold their hands on while taking the oath of allegiance. Gospel was created in an ancient princely town today known as village Peresopnytsia near Rivne city. This is the place where monks finished the work on the First Ukrainian Book in 1561. Here, tourists can see the facsimile copy of hand-written masterpiece, hear about princess thanks to whom The First Book was created, and look at the only world collection of translations of the scripture into different languages
