It is a true house-museum where the atmosphere of our ancestors’ lives has been recreated and the distinctive features of Polissia culture, formed over centuries, are presented.
The house is more than 150 years old and is a valuable example of traditional rural architecture. It is named after Hanka Sherekhovа, a local resident known for her love of singing, hospitality, and dedication to preserving folk customs. Thanks to people like her, the traditions, songs, rituals, and crafts of Polissia have been passed down from generation to generation.
The exhibition features antique embroidered towels, icons, wooden household items, traditional dishes, and other objects that help visitors imagine the daily life of Polissia residents in past centuries. Guests can not only explore the museum but also take part in cultural activities: listen to folk songs, Christmas carols and traditional seasonal chants, join workshops, taste traditional dishes, and learn about ancient customs.
A special highlight is the recreated folk traditions, including the ritual of driving away Korshak, which was associated with protecting domestic birds and ensuring family well-being. The Ethno House is a place where the intangible cultural heritage of Polissia comes to life and where a connection between the past and present is created.
The Ethno House in Stuhivshchyna is an interesting destination for tourists, families with children, and those interested in history, folklore, and traditional Ukrainian art. It is an atmospheric place to discover the culture of the Ovruch region and experience the authentic spirit of a Polissia village.
