The Transcarpathian Regional Art Museum named after Joseph Bokshay is one of the most important cultural centers of Zakarpattia, preserving and promoting the artistic heritage of the region. The museum has undergone a long history of formation and development and today serves as an important place for discovering Ukrainian and European art.
The museum's collection includes more than 16,000 exhibits, featuring works of painting, graphic art, sculpture, and decorative and applied arts. The exhibition introduces visitors to various artistic movements, the works of Transcarpathian artists, and the distinctive features of the region's artistic culture.
A special place in the museum is dedicated to the heritage of the Transcarpathian school of painting, represented by works of outstanding artists, including Joseph Bokshay — one of the founders of professional fine art in Zakarpattia. The museum's collection reflects the beauty of Carpathian landscapes, local traditions, and the creative exploration of artists from different generations.
The museum is located in the very heart of historic Uzhhorod, in the former county administration building (zhupanat) — an architectural monument of the 19th century.
