It's interesting: the monument itself is not the only tribute to the genius.Trostianets hosts creative events dedicated to the composer, including the festival of classical music "Tchaikovsky Fest".
Sculpture, designed by Sukhodolov, appeared in Trostyanets in 1964. This date is not accidental: exactly 100 years before, the 24-year-old Tchaikovsky stayed at his friend Prince Golitsyn`s palace in Trostyanets. As a conservatory student, the young man experienced considerable material difficulties, and wealthy friends often invited him to stay in their estates.
It is known that it was in Trostyanets that the composer wrote an overture to his first symphonic work "The Storm". Perhaps, that is why the city is very warm towards Tchaikovsky. The bronze monument is devoid of monumental pomposity, and it seems that the composer simply strolls through the park, enjoying cozy alleys.
