The museum was opened in 2005. Five exhibition halls cover three periods of the city's development: pre-Soviet, Soviet and the years of Ukraine's independence. The exposition presents unique documents on the history of the city, rare photographs and other goods. The diorama of the Berdyansk port immediately attracts attention at the beginning of the 20th century. Show-windows of the exhibition hall tell about sister cities of Berdyansk and demonstrate collections of samovars and irons of the late XIX-early XX centuries.
