The complex includes the Tower of the Princes Chortoryiskyi with a fragment of the defensive wall and the former Jesuit monastery with its underground chambers.
The Chortoryiskyi Tower is the only surviving masonry tower of Lutsk’s larger castle complex. It is part of the former Okolnyi Castle, the city’s first defensive belt, which began to be extensively rebuilt in stone instead of wood in the early 16th century.
The most atmospheric part of the space is the underground complex of the Jesuit College. Following restoration, 18 rooms and 4 corridors were opened to visitors and transformed into an interactive museum space. The exhibitions include a Knights’ Gallery and a presentation about education at the Jesuit College. Visitors can also explore multimedia installations, an interactive smart board, and VR headsets. The atmosphere is enhanced by a figure of a Jesuit monk and a hologram of a ghost.
The “Okolnyi Castle” Museum Space offers a chance to discover the history of Lutsk not only through museum exhibits, but also through preserved architecture, defensive structures, and underground chambers. It is a place where the medieval history of the city meets modern technology and interactive experiences.
