It is a branch of the Ancient Halych National Preserve and is housed in a restored Karaite residence dating from the late 19th century in the historic center of the town.
The museum's exhibition tells the story of the Karaite community, which, according to one historical tradition, settled in Halych as early as the 13th century. Visitors can explore the Karaites' religious traditions, daily life, culture, and contribution to the development of the town. The collection includes rare manuscripts and printed books, an 18th-century parchment Torah scroll, religious artifacts from the Halych kenesa, archival documents, family photographs, traditional clothing, household items, and many other valuable exhibits.
The museum's collection contains approximately 3,000 artifacts, many of which were donated by members of the Karaite community itself. The exhibition is divided into several thematic halls dedicated to religion, community history, and traditional everyday life, providing visitors with a comprehensive introduction to the culture of one of Ukraine's smallest ethnic communities.
Opened in 2004, the museum plays an important role in preserving the cultural heritage of the Galician Karaites. It offers a unique opportunity to discover the history of a community that was an integral part of multicultural Halych for centuries.
