This is not just a museum - it is the cradle of Ukrainian literature. Museum in Shevchenkove village was opened in Shevchenko's house where he had lived with his parents from 1815 to 1829. Interior of the building close to what they were during the life of the poet. Near the house there is a mother of the poet's grave, in the former cemetery, in the center of the village - the tomb of his father Grigoriy Shevchenko. Also, close to the museum there is the house where little Taras studied literacy. Literary Memorial Museum is a truly a family affair, because it was only run by the great poet's relatives, for a long time the director was the grandson of Shevchenko - Taras Shevchenko, then his daughter - V. Shevchenko, she worked as director of the museum more than 30 years. The museum is a part of the national historical reserve "Motherland of Taras Shevchenko", created to preserve Shevchenko memorial sites
