The museum is dedicated to an amazing and still little-studied phenomenon -
the phenomenon of Bukovinian Jewry in the period from the end of the eighteenth century to the 40s of the twentieth century.
Here, in Bukovina, there was no strip of settlement.
Here the Jews achieved real equality of rights with the representatives of other nations.
Here was a rare situation not only for those years of tolerance, tolerance,
mutual respect and cooperation of people of different nationalities and religions.
Jewish culture flourished here, influencing the cultures of other peoples and perceiving their influence.
There was a tense and bright religious life and no less bright and interesting secular life.
